played powfoot 1st april 08,in 1 of my last reports about lockerbie were i my pockets were emptied by the local bandits, so u can imagine the suprise i got when putting shoes on in car park these 2 came rolling up grinning like cheshire cats telling us they now member here aswell on there profits, anyway we agreed to let them play with us,this day the wind was blowing 50 mph plus so it made it a good test, tough 1`st hole into cross wind out bounds on right,2nd long par 4 495yrds into wind didnt get there in 3, 3rd hole the stroke 1 but i did think the were tougher holes on course, good hole right along the sea,5th is a 235yrd par into wind no chance of reaching, then u go into the tight gorse for a few holes, great holes as well then you come out into open then go back in great verity, last 4 holes will test most people good finishing hole outside clubhouse,i played ganton a couple of weeks ago and thats rated number 6 in england and i wouldnt say theres much between these 2 courses, bet in summer greens are like lightening,if you get anything to eat in clubhouse get the steak and ale pie,it was awesome,as for were the money ,well it came back down south with this fat boy,our new friends faces were a picture, heck plays off 17 but is a nice fella and a steady golfer, the other 1 steve budgie or something plays off 5 is the luckiest good golfer ive met, watched him bounce out of a gorse bush, plays with a snap hook about 3inch off ground and when he plays at powfoot all the worms were tin hats, great course great challange great people

Very enjoyable links course with typical greens and fairways.
Well worth a visit, particulaty on the cheap golf vouchers.
A big let down was the club house which is desperately in need of modernisation. All though clean, im glad i didnt use the showers and the changing rooms were very cluttered, untidy and not particulary pleasent.
The food was good quality in the club house

tremendous course and love being a member, especially this season as the greenkeepers have worked extremely hard to maintain the course and are allowing it to keep its reputation as one of the regions top courses

What a gem.
Stayed at the hotel you can see at the eastern edge of the course.
Managed to obtain last minute tee-times (11:00am) for 7 golfers on a sunny Sunday morning in September despite the fact that a major comp was taking place just shortly afterwards.
A lovely course to play, easy walking, superb fairways & greens (a credit to the groundstaff),and excellent catering afterwards.
Extremely accomodating staff in the both the pro-shop & clubhouse.
A 'want to go back & play again' course.

Powfoot is lovely course in a beautiful part of Scotland. Holes are a mix of links and parkland, the former being more interesting as there's lots of gorse between fairways giving these a better definition. Favourite holes were the 5th, a 272 yard par-3 (par-4 off the white tees) into the wind with a stroke index of 17! the 8th, a shortish par 4, but needing a straight drive and the 11th, a blind drive but a lovely looking hole from the viewing tower. Staff at the club are very friendly and the lunch was delicious. A course to definitely visit if you're on holiday in the area.

If I were ever to move to the UK, I'd want to live near enough to Powfoot to be a member of this fine club. Perhaps the most enjoyable round of golf I played in the UK. The course is in lovely condition and the staff is warm and friendly. This course offers a bit of everything. Go ahead and pull out the driver on No. 5. With very little trouble between tee and green, it might be your best-ever chance at an albatross ace!
