apart from the fact that, like all haggises, you need one leg shorter than the other to play this lovely course, it is a spectular place to play. apart from the first 3 holes which are almost flat you climb into the hills and the consolation for the number of wayward balls is the wonderful views!

Played Aberfolye on 27th August. The weather was very good, calm and warm.

My initial impression was that Aberfolye is a small, friendly club. In true Scottish, small golf club style it doesn't have a proshop but the bar takes the green fees. The staff and members we encountered were friendly and accommodating and the bar and clubhouse were pleasant enough.

The course was, as descibed previously, "quirky". Its condition was pretty good although the greens had been hollow tined and sanded which made them slow.

It is a hilly course, which also means that the views can be stunning. However because the course rests on the side of a hill, some of the holes - although relatively short for their par - are difficult to play. This gives it a different sort of feel (especially if you're from Essex as we are) and some of the holes look quite unfair. It means that there is a great emphasis on course management and in that regard it made it an interesting experience.

The condition of the course (the greens notwithstanding)were good and at £18 p/round it was good value.

I found this course to be one of the best that I have played a bit hilly in parts but well worth the climb a must if you are in the area

Having driven past this course for the past 20 years thought it was time I give it a go. The whole course is excellently maintained and could not fault the condition of the greens. The members/staff were also extremely friendly. It is a short course but very challenging and would highly recommend it to anyone. Views are fantastic, especially early in the morning. will be visiting it again next year for sure.

This is truly a hidden gem! Short & quirky, but lots of fun. The 4th and 10th holes are unique. The 10th (115 yards, par 3) may actually be better than the 8th at Troon. Great mountain scenery and good value, also!
