This is one of the most picturesqe courses i have played. Deer grazing under the tree's adds to the charm of the place.

Shrigley boasts some of the most impressive and difficult to hit holes too.

Right, thats the praise over. The green's at Shrigley hall are the worst I have ever played on. I can appreciate that they were spiked a few weeks back but that doesnt take into account the sheer shabbyness of them. Municipal courses that take a hell of a lot more foot traffic than Shrigley manage to keep much better greens than this.

The tee areas too were in very poor condition.

We played with 2 fore 1 vouchers which reduced the green fee's down to £22.50 each, but that was still too much to pay for a course that seems to have seen much better days.

As for it being home to the chesire and lancashire championships..... I find it difficult to believe that any competition whatsoever will be played at shrigley while its in this condition.

Enjoyed our trip to Shrigley, though I have to say the course was very boggy when we played it. A return to play again in the summer is on the cards.

Some very interesting holes. Plenty of doglegs where good positional play of the tee is a must yet you still need to be taking a pretty long club. Tree lined fairways see the poor shot penalised quite heavily on some holes. Greens are well guarded and on some holes not the easiest to hit.

We all thought the first four holes were a bit weak, but once you get into the heart of the course it is pretty good all round. A bit up hill and down dale in parts, but not overly tiring if you play regularly.

Off course, everything was fine though we did find the food available limited and expensive. Pro shop staff very helpful.

Just come back from a golf break here, (£85 with golf and leisure breaks) A wonderful setting with great leisure facilities. The course is one of the best I've played home or abroad. Very well kept with a variety of holes, the pick for me being the 7th and 17th ,although the signature holes are the 8th and 18th. Watch out for the killer 12th, a good tee shot is required to reach the fairway, then is a steep hill upto the green, thankfully the 13th is downhill and gives you chance to get your breath back. You may also come across the odd Deer strolling across a fairway like we did. Most people seemed to hire buggies, but we walked round both days and survived. I would recommend Shrigley Hall to anyone for a golfbreak, and will certainly be going back there.

Played the course May 2004. Had a great day and the course was almost empty. Found it quite hard though as the greens are all pretty small so good iron play is a must. The course was in very good condition but with a green fee of £36 I expected better, (therefore I would strongly suggest getting hold of 2fore1 vouchers to make it worth the money). All in all a really good course which I would certainly recommend.

Tip - Get a buggy: I would regard myself as pretty fit but the hills here had me knackered by the end, especially the SI 1 (12th I think)..... massive!
