I have been using the driving range at the Manor for a while now, but this marked my first round on the 18 hole course.
I booked a tee time 3 days in advance, when the advertised price was £12.50 if I remember rightly. However, when I turned up for my round, I found the price had gone up to £20 that day. Not something you can really bemoan too much, but I did feel a little cheated that I wasnt told at the time of booking.
Considering the foul weather we were having at the time, the course was in pretty good condition. One hole (10th) was closed, and the 2nd was on a temporary green, but apart from that all was well. Play was from tee mats on all holes (no surprise there).
I thought the course was pretty good, but lacked a certain something. There are several lakes and ponds, but they only come into play on 2 occasions. Likewise, bunkers dont seem to feature that much (apart from the 9th, which is a very good hole that could be great if 50yds longer). The land the course is built on is not the most inspiring, although sensible planting has added to the interest.
Drainage was good, and the greens, while not the best, were all good too.
The highlight for me was the par 3 4th. An accurate tee short required over a densely wooded valley, with more trees to left and right. One slip and you can say goodbye to your ball.
The clubhouse is very nicely presented, airy and welcoming. Just lacked intimacy, and felt a bit 'corporate'.
The pro shop has a good range of just about everything you need. However, having once asked for advice on rescue clubs, I was just handed a demonstration club and told to take it on the range (at my own expense). What I was REALLY looking for was some decent advice!
Practice facilities are very good, comprising of a 20 bay range running out to 300 yards, a putting freen and a 6 hole par 3 course.
Overall, I would advise you to give the Manor a shot, but try to go when fees are reduced. I will be going back, but its certainly not my favourite course.

Playable all year except a couple of holes. Tees poor, need levelling off. Greens improving but still way too slow. A lot of pay and players/ societies for profit. Members brass just keep em going through the winter and pays wages, with no real input to the club. One of the most expensive around! The owners (Bill & Eric)are too involved in course conditioning which I think is preventing it from being one of the best in the area. Clubhouse great, pro's welcoming and friendly, pro shop well stocked with all sorts. About the same as a municiple without the crowds but costs twice as much.

I have just recently played at the Manor Golf Club with my chronies. The course is briliant i have never had soo much fun in my entire life. I had a quick lesson before hand with the teaching pro David Hey he is a very good teacher with a lesson only costing £11 it was a great bargin. Although i didnt learn much he still made me laugh which is the main thing. The course greens were in very good condition and i would say the tee boxes need quite alot of work but thats pretty much my only complaint ohh and the water features could come into play abit more as well as raking the bunkers and trimming them. i would score this course 8/10!!! RECOMENDED

A quite plain course, with perhaps only one signature hole that being the 16th par 3 over water. Usually well drained and well maintained.
Quite often find that the play is from temporary tees, even when ground conditions are good. The 10th and 11th holes are not very well planned and perhaps spoil the course a little. Otherwise for £20 ish per round it is quite honest value for money.

I have played this course many times over the past couple of years. At £15 for a midweek round it is nothing short of excellent value for money. The fairways and greens are kept in great condition. One or two tees are a little tired just now but the club are working on them.
The course is a challenge for all golfers, with some relatively easy holes and others a real test of skill and accuracy, especially the sloping 10th. Plenty of water to keep the ducks happy and great scenery.
Will continue visiting this lttle gem and highly recommend it to anyone in who happens to be in the Yorkshire area.
