Middlesbrough Municipal Golf Centre Player Reports

I have played Middlesbrough Municipal many times and always enjoy the challenge. The layout is excellent and each hole is unique. The course is divided into two parts with the first 12 holes played over fairly flat parkland with generous fairways and equally generous bunkers. The final 8 holes appear on the other side of a ditch which runs right through the course, these holes are a little more open in places and provide a different test. There are many stand out holes: The 3rd is a short par 4 with out of bounds and a stream down the right, and the par 4 9th requires a second shot to a raised green over the ditch. The par 4 13th and most difficult hole has a daunting drive over the trees and there is an equally difficult opening to the par 5 18th. Despite the excellent layout the course looks tired in places and there are spots where drainage is poor, but when you realise this is a council run course you can accept this, especially with the price. The facilities are good and all staff are friendly and helpfull

The course is very well set out.The fairways are well cut, bunkers strategically placed. Driving range on site with a well stocked Pro shop. Overall a good course to play. I would recomend this course to anyone.

The course is in good condition considering how much it is played. The course is set out very well and there is some challenging holes.
The bunkers could do with a bit more sand in them and they could have a second cut going from fairway to rough.
overall it is a good course to play i would recommend to anyone

Played yesterday, on a glorious October morning (why weren't there any in August?). Having been regular visitors to municipals in the Leeds area this course has to stand head and shoulders above them and for just £11.50, it has to be the best value for money course around.
Most fairways were well cut, bunkers strategically placed and well maintained and greens largely true. It has a nice steady, almost easy start but then gets increasingly more challenging with some narrow fairways and daring drives The the stroke index 1 hole and the 18th, were for the uninitiated, especially heart in the mouth affairs.
Facilities were good and staff encountered friendly. In all this puts many private courses to shame and I will certainly give it another go next time up in the North East.

THE CHALLENGING GOLF FOR HIGH AND LOW HANDICAPERS. CONSIDERING IT HAS BEEN IN THE GUINESS BOOK OF RECORDS FOR THE MOST PLAYED COURSE IN THE UK IT,S IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE WITH SOME DEMANDING HOLES VERY NARROW FAIRWAYS NOT MUCH ROOM FOR THE WRONG STRATEGY OR CLUB SELECTION BEARING IN MIND YOU WON"T BE DISSAPOINTED.
