Wilton Golf Club Player Reports

The first few holes start at the highest point on the course and are all on steep slopes so it makes for hard walking, and its hard to keep your ball on the fairway especially on the 2nd and 3rd holes. there are two good par 3's on the front 9 straight back down the hill. the later holes offer a different challenge as its almost flat and more mature, there are some nice water features and views of Wilton Castle. The stand out hole for me was the par 5 13th which snakes uphill through a narrow opening in the trees with out of bounds all the way up the left. Overall Wilton is a very idyllic course which was a pleasure to play, although not overly difficult or long. Its kept in excellent condition with fast running fairways, fluffy bunkers, and despite being fairly small the greens are firm and consistent. Signage between tees could be improved and parts of the course look a little tired but definitely worth the money.

When playing at wilton i thought the atmosphere was very calm and soothing despite the steel works being in the view. They did infact help towards a marvelous contrast of the greenery.
The course was not overly challenging however it did provide some excellent quick fairways on which clean strokes could be made and to their full potential
My favourite hole was the 14th which i chipped in on as it was a particularly good hole for driving although slightly dog legged.
All in all i thought Wilton golf course was that on which an unexperienced player like myself could continue his golfing ambitions with not to much difficulty

played here tuesday 28th feb ,it was a cold day but had a good game ,nothing stands out in the wow factor but a easy course ,but could be better for first time players if they had signs pointing to the next tee box as one or two holes we had to ask players where the tee boxes where ie 18th hole you leave the second part of the course to go back to the first part ,(no signs) but have to walk 100 yrds to the right to see the box !!

Course is split into 2 halves of 9 holes.\r\nTop halve consisting of the holes 1-8 & 18 and bottom half holes 9-17.\r\nTop half is on the side of a hill.\r\nBottom half on a flatter terrain.\r\nAll the fairways are undulating.\r\nAlways remember when putting everything fals to the sea.\r\nA very enjoyable small course.
