Last played here some 14 years ago when many of the trees were young and marked as plantation, so free drop out.
Not now - they've grown into big moody teenagers that you need to avoid otherwise it'll cost you.
Some of the tee shots are now quite intimidating down the tree lined fairways.
Course is currently in very good condition, and is very long if you fancy the 6726 white tees.
Cat.1's or over-ambitious types have the blue tees at 7022 if you want a real challenge. 5 x par 5's, and 4 of them over 550 yards! It's not just a long schlep as there's plenty of variety in the other holes with no.12 being the shortest of a number shortish par 4's (there are enough long par 4's as well).
My mate booked our 4 ball on one of the online booking sites and got it for a silly price of £12. I shouldn't really be publishing this as many will surely take up this offer, and I intend going back there.
A word of warning if you don't know the area. Take your sat nav, or have a good look at a map is it's a bit remote down the lanes north of Newbury.

The course is always in top quality condition, and is always an interesting challenge whenever I play. The members are especially welcoming to me as a junior, and i have been helped by club pros, members and the captain to enter tournaments and meet new people in the social side of golf.

Having ventured through the local village of World's End to reach the golf club I can verify that the course is slightly out of the way. However, once you reach your destination you will not be dissapointed by what you find. Come prepared for a long walk as some of the holes are fine tuned for the big hitters. The final couple of holes are exceptional with a beautifully designed par 3 followed by a dog-leg par 4 taunted by water. 2-fore-1 (£17.50) made it great value for money, I only paid 17.7p per shot. Not a good score but a good course (I did win 3 nearest the pins to make up for the score, that's 3 pints thanks Neil).

Returned to play this course on a glorious spring day after raving about it from a previous visit. Unfortunately my opinion now differs dramaticaly. The course is now extremely scruffy with bare patchy lies even in the centre of the fairway. Greens were also patchy, terribly scarred with previous unrepaired pitchmarks, and each one had a different pace and level of bumpiness!!
The two holes that I previosly considered a "let down" are now on temporary greens whilst the proper greens are redesigned and shaped.
I will return in the summer in the hope that the two new additions will be in play and that the rest of the course has been tidied. It would be such a shame if this course was left to deteriorate as the general layout and use of the natural shape of the ground is very good indeed.
