i have played penny flash many times since i took up golf almost 3 years ago.I hacked my way round several times before i learnt how to strike a ball!staff here are second to none, they will always try and get you out there. sometimes, this is a bad thing, because things start to back up very quickly, and you can find yourself waiting 20mins on 4th par 3! very testing course, water on all but 2 holes! Course has had some dissruption recently,3rd has been reduced to par 3, i think its only temporary though.Autumn will have you searching fairways for your ball, leaves cover every inch! Temp greens are always good, and reduce the yardage loads.Fairways tend to hold water,so take spare socks for the trip home, they WILL be wet! Get yourself a `Lifestyle` card, you can play even cheaper!Dont forget carpark ticket, you WILL get fined! 9th par 5,what can i say? its either a good par, or a nightmare 9!dont slice off the T,or you go in brook.2nd shot? lay up or carry the brook? watch out for nasty bunkers around green. A good course to learn, practice, enjoy. very flat, loads of nice english trees! and plenty of water! good golfers can get into trouble too,its not just for hackers!Summer is best for penny, turn up on your own and join a 2ball,most are friendly! lots of grandads try teaching grandkids there,so be patient! try penny flash, its well worth £5!!!

For the money, you can not argue, I have paid £15 for the pleasure of being knee deep in water due to ver poor drainage.
Begginers and those who have not played for a long time will find this course a good way to get (sorry for the pun) in the swing of things, the greens are well maintined and challenging enough to keep you on your toes.
No, this is not a great course, but you get what you pay for, cheap and cheerful for a quick 9.

I have been a Captain and Presidant at Pennington and I want to put the record straight,First the bad points, YES it is liable to flooding when it pours down, YES it does atract the less accomplished golfer, YES it can take you ages when Golf is on the tele and everyone thinks that they can play, and YES I agree every season there are the local idiots who decide to ruin the greens in summer because thats what these type of people do....NOW THE GOOD POINTS.... Someone tell me where you can get better winter greens than here, There are none, the winter greens at Penny are superb,..How cheap is it to play.. how many courses do you play with streams and ponds on 7 out of 9 holes..how hard is the 7th with a diagonal wide stream running all along the hole, ( I have played in comps some windy weekends and no one has managed to reach the grean).. How narrow are some of the holes, The amount of times I have played with golfers from other courses and they have gone on about the size of penny, and then kept quiet when they have gone out of bounds,....all in all, it is a great challenge and its only a pity the the local council didnt appreciate it more and improve what could be an A1 facility..........

not a very good course at all i am a member there and is is only worth going there in summer and iv u go in winter make sure your well stacked up on golf balls because u'll need them when u hit them on the fairway and lose them is is well kept thanx to the grounds staff and the people in the golf shop are very pleasent as well (nice one parra, mark and emma) and if u want a good course that is a proper 18 holes go to bowring park its cheaper and in much better condition than penny

It is a good course for begginers but that is the problem as they are so slow and it can get very flustrating. Their are also stigs who go swimming in the dirty water to collect balls although you can take advantage by buying them of them for virctually nothing. I guarantee that you will lose alot of balls here and it has been known that you can lose your ball on the fairway. Not a very good course.

This course has a lot of potential. However itis prone to flooding. Great value for money best in summer. In winter you will lose around 15 balls and am not joking.
