Cape Cornwall Golf Club Player Reports
Ian Thomas (England) 13/10/06
The main feature of this course is the clifftop scenery of Cape Cornwall which is truly spectacular. My 241 brochure described the course as links; it is not, it is a parkland course on the top of the cliffs. The front nine are a bit dull, being fairly flat back and forth holes, but the start of back nine is something else. Holes 10 to 14 have very steep slopes in all direction that put a lot of strain on the knees; I noticed buggies for hire and am amazed they would be able get around without toppling over. The course is very exposed; I played in a fairly strong breeze that made keeping the ball travelling in anywhere near to the right direction very tricky. The greens were uninteresting and slow; a novel feature is that several fairways require you to weave the ball through quite narrow gaps in stone walls. Overall the course and clubhouse has a rough and ready feel. Definitely an unusual golfing experience!

Played here 26/06/06.
This course promised to be one to remember.
And it was, but not for all the right reasons. Poor green condition, poor quality tee boxes, some dangerous hole designs, close together fairways , poor buggy tracks and dangerous green placements.
However, all that said it was a very challenging course to play.
Holes 2,4,5,10,11 and 12 where my out and out favourites, great shape and use of land lie.
This is the sort of course where you would need to play it in every season to get the true feeling of it realy plays.
I should hate to play this course in the wind and rain mind!
Its the sort of track i would call...
"a beauty and a beast".
Another Reason to play is for the views you get. Wow, they are amazing and worth the green fee alone just to stand and stare at them.
Over all, this course is a little quirky but that is not unusual given the area and its cliff top setting.
Off course the club house provides a reasonable menu at a fair price for the area with a good selection of drinks and a warm cornish welcome. Heath club and pool look inviting after a long day golfing and walking up hills.
You have to play this course at least once just to say you played the furthest south golf course in main land England.! :-)
( Right, now to john-o-grotes to play the furthest north! )

The course was quite awkward to find so leave some additional 'finding' time since it's down a very narrow lane and we didn't see any signposts. The front nine is relatively flat but the start of the back nine is mountainous and I would definately recommend a buggy. The greens were quite slow when we played and the rough was a tad too long in that it took a long time to find balls just off the fairway. Several short par 4's (The 8th, 9th, 10th and 12th) and 1 excellant par 3 (The 11th) follow the 3 very tough holes (4th, 5th and 6th). The views are superb and make it worth the trip.

A smashing course - one for the golfer who can hit straight. The greens were in fantastic condition and lightening fast.Superb views of the Cornish coastline. The 10th and 12th holes are brilliant-it feels at though you are hitting the ball straight into the sea.
The best time of the day to play?Get to see the sunset over the Cape whilst on the 18th hole.Purely magical.Go play!!

Dear Sir/Madam\r\n I visited the course for a short break on July 21st 1997.\r\n I found the course to be in excellent condition with a few easy and hard holes.\r\n The clubhouse and facilities was excellent.\r\n There was a good leisure suite which I used most of the time.\r\n I found the staff were very friendly and helpful.\r\n I hope to come back next year.\r\n Thankyou\r\n Yours sincerely\r\n Matthew Hill
