Played here April 07.
Fairly standard public course.Reasonable condition.Quite tight in places & there a few ditches which had grown over but have now been cleaned out & are in play.Fairly good par 3's but overall i won't be rushing back to play here again.

I have recently played the Abbey Hill Course and would like to say how fantastic the course was. I have played many of the top courses in the area and Abbey Hill is up there with the best of them, especially considering how cheap the green fee is in comparison. The greens were as true and as smooth as you could wish for. The pro shop staff were very accommodating and the bar snack afterwards was just the ticket.
On the downside it was a little slow getting round due to the large numbers of players out there.
I would strongly recommend playing this course, without doubt, the best condition course in the area!

The course is a real challenge and is being improved almost weekly with new paths, tee boxes and better sand in the traps (which mean you can now get out - well sometimes anyway!). Much of the undergrowth lining the fairwys is being taken out, leaving the mature trees in place, which helps to give the course a more open feel and certainly makes it easier to find your ball if it goes astray even if you still don't have shot except to chip back onto the fairway. There are some good driving holes where long hitters can take on the green, particularly the 1st and 15th, but beware the bunkering placed to catch you out. I've been playing there since starting golf two and a half years ago and find a different challenge every time. The members are a friendly bunch and the staff very welcoming - recommended for new and experienced players alike. Interestingly there are two different golf clubs who make this their home course, Abbey Hill GC and Milton Keynes GC - no home advantage for inter-club matches here!

Living in the south of MK Abbey is always a little bit out the way for me, but I do get up to play a few times.
To me, its one of the places that every time I think its improved, comes back and smacks me in the face. It has the potential to be a really nice course - there are some testing holes, long and short - and greens are generally in good nick.
But whilst I have played there something has always gone wrong - not least the last time I played when someone came out after 13 holes in a buggy and told us theyd had complaints about my friends wearing jeans - I wouldnt have minded if theyd have told us at the start (we'd have played somewhere else) but to tell us after 18 epitimised a lot of what is so wrong about some golf clubs. Even if its their mistake they blame you.
The course itself, the memorable holes are generally all on the 'other' side of the road - with a excellent short par 3 'the crypt' and 2 long par 5's - one uphill one from a elevated tee that stick to mind - only the finishing two holes do anything on the back. Its got the potential to be a really nice round.
Not even at Woburn have people been so pretentious toward me, and they wont be getting any of my money again in a hurry.

Abbey Hill is an absolutely SMASHING course and is well worth visiting. I feel this is the best course in Milton Keynes, as its always in SUPERB condition - well lawned fairways (like carpet), tee boxes have great lies, bunkers sweet and the greens are always perfect! I would recommend any person to this course, especuially golf societies, great course to play on. On the whole this course is just fantastic! They also have a par 3 course which is almost in as good condition as the course, which is fantastic maintance. They dont just concentrate on the 18 holes, also the 9 on the par 3, and its great for young learners. Just make sure you play the course you wont regret it. There is also a driving range which has clear yardage markers. The pro shop is great and so is the restaurant - (they make the best tuna and cucumber baguette. Finally there is achipping and putting area, what more do you want.
ONE OF THE BEST PUBLIC PAY AND PLAY COURSES AROUND IN MK.

As a beginner who has not consistently broken the 100 mark I first found this course very difficult and lost many balls within the heavy bush lining most fairways. But as I have improved I have begun to like this course. The holes are varied and are all fairly challenging and the bushes do not create too much of a problem...sometimes.
Ditches come into play on six of the holes with water being brought in on three of them. The greens are, in the main, in excellent condition although the teeing areas could do with more regular maintenance.
Outside noise influences can sometimes be a problem, but this is probably down to my own lack of focus.
A good, fun course that I recommend for the player who has a rough idea what they are doing.
