Woldingham Golf Club Player Reports
Henry Shinners (England) 18/06/08
One of our favourite visitor-friendly courses in Kent and east Surrey. Always seems to be in good condition and has a good variety of interesting holes. The front nine is the more interesting and a couple of the holes on the back 9 are quite bland (particularly the 13th and the 15th) but there is plenty of interest among the remainder (especially the 7th and 12th and the finishing three) to keep your interest. More expensive than the likes of say Austin Lodge, another of my favourites, but we keep coming back which is a testimony to the quality of the golf. The pace of play is normally good, even on a Saturday morning, which obviously adds to the enjoyment.
The course is built in a valley and the front nine runs along the edge of it so be prepared for some hills, although the climbing is not excessive. A few of the par fours require a bit of thought and course management (eg the 4th, 8th and 14th) where just whipping the driver out will almost certainly not result in the optimum score.

Having played woldingham a few times i found it to be a very good course, well maintained with a pleasant atmosphere. As with mr noades courses the rough is normally short for quick play but found that the rough was longer than usual which i feel made it a lot better.Although a few times we had to look for balls in the longer grass it has made a good couse that bit more challenging.
It was and still is a very good course to play and will be going back again.

Woldingham is a good test of golf for the mid to high handicap player.
Whilst the course is free of water, the bunkers and hillside holes certainly give you plenty to think about. The undulating fairways and true greens are both in excellent condition thus making it fantastic value.
My only disappointment was the "Spike Bar" which could lift it's game in terms of food, service and decor.
Will return.

Very average golf course. The layout is fine but the course lacks trees and vegetation which makes for a very easy track. People at the pro-shop/clubhouse are very welcoming and the clubhouse facilities are well above par. Fine for a twilight round but definitely not worth £30/round - at least not before some of the recently planted trees grow.

Played here in a three ball on Sunday afternoon, miraculously dodging the showers that had fallen all day.
There are two practice putting greens near the clubhouse and an uncovered range (token is £2.50 for approx 50 balls). Iron shots only are allowed on the range which is squeezed in between two holes.
The post 4pm twilight rate of £15.00 for visitors was great value (It’s £20 after 3pm - still good value I feel). Despite the earlier rain the course and greens were in great condition with just a little surface water on the 3rd which didn’t come into play. Nearly all the par 3s are of the same length but all present a different challenge from the tee. Several memorable holes, and, as mentioned previously the view from the elevated tee on the 17th is fantastic.
Woldingham is certainly a fair test for most golfers. I played under my 18 handicap, though had I found more that one bunker during the round I'm sure things could have been very different!
Staff in the pro shop and Spikes bar were all welcoming and helpful; needless to say I shall be back very soon.

Played here on a very cold and frosty February day when my own course was closed.
The first three or four holes where a little dissapointing as there was very little chance of a flat stance. The holes to the sides of the course slope one way or another back into the valley in which the course is built.
Apart from that the course is very open and a fair test of golf. There are some very nice holes the seventeenth a par three with an elivated tee was quite memorable.
Some of the greens and bunkers were still very much frozen when we played which made it quite interesting if unpredicatable.
Overall a nice course with an excellent clubhouse.
